Certified for meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
B Corp certification is awarded by B Lab to companies that score at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, covering governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Certified companies must also amend their legal structure to be accountable to all stakeholders — not just shareholders.
B Corps go beyond profit. Because the legal commitment is built into the company's constitution, it cannot be reversed when ownership changes hands. Re-verification is required every three years, keeping standards live and enforceable.

Ensures farmers and workers in supply chains receive fair wages and safe working conditions.
Fair Trade certification guarantees that producers — typically in the Global South — are paid minimum prices that cover sustainable production costs, and that factories and farms meet rigorous labour and safety standards. A share of each sale also funds community development projects chosen by the workers themselves.
Wage theft and unsafe conditions are endemic across fashion and beauty supply chains. Fair Trade is one of the few standards that puts binding price floors and audited labour rights directly into the supply contract.

Global Organic Textile Standard — certifies organic fibres from farm through to the finished label.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It covers the full supply chain — from raw material harvest through spinning, dyeing, finishing, and labelling — applying both ecological and social criteria at every stage.
Without a chain-of-custody standard, a brand can legitimately market "organic cotton" even if the fabric was processed using toxic dyes and bleaches. GOTS closes this gap: if the label is on the product, every step of its journey has been certified.

Tests every component of a product for harmful substances to ensure it is safe for human health.
OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 is one of the world's most recognised textile labels. Every component of a certified article — including threads, buttons, zips, and prints — is tested against a list of over 100 harmful substances, including pesticides, heavy metals, and allergenic dyes.
Conventional textiles commonly contain chemical residues absorbed through skin contact throughout the product's life. OEKO-TEX gives consumers independently verified assurance — especially important for products worn close to the skin or used by children.

Independently verifies that products contain a stated percentage of recycled material.
Recycled Content certification — typically based on the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) or Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) — provides an audited chain of custody from recycled material source through to the finished product. It verifies the recycled content percentage and applies social and environmental processing standards throughout.
Recycled materials reduce demand for virgin resources, divert waste from landfill, and typically require significantly less energy and water in production. Without third-party verification, recycled content claims are impossible for consumers to confirm.

Contains no animal products or byproducts and has not been tested on animals at any stage.
Vegan certification confirms that a product is free from all animal-derived ingredients — including wool, silk, leather, beeswax, lanolin, and carmine — and that no animal testing was carried out at any point in the supply chain. Leading programmes include The Vegan Society Trademark and PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies.
Animal agriculture is a major driver of habitat destruction, greenhouse gas emissions, and water use. Vegan-certified products offer a verified alternative that removes demand for animal exploitation at every supply chain step.

No animal testing was carried out at any stage of product development or by any ingredient supplier.
Cruelty Free certification (such as Leaping Bunny or PETA's Beauty Without Bunnies) confirms that neither the brand nor any of its suppliers has conducted, commissioned, or been party to animal testing for any ingredient or finished product. Brands are required to sign legally binding pledges and undergo independent audits.
Effective non-animal testing methods — including cell-based assays, computer modelling, and human tissue equivalents — are widely available and often more predictive than animal models. Cruelty Free certification creates a market incentive to adopt them.

Emissions from production are measured, reduced where possible, and fully offset through certified projects.
Carbon Neutral certification requires brands to conduct a full GHG inventory of their operations, take steps to reduce emissions in line with recognised pathways, and offset remaining emissions through independently verified projects — such as reforestation, soil carbon, or renewable energy. Standards include PAS 2060 and Climate Neutral.
Carbon offsetting alone is not a solution to climate change, but certification ensures brands are at minimum accountable for their full footprint rather than ignoring it. The regular re-measurement requirement also tracks whether absolute emissions are declining over time.

Ensures responsible use of resources and safe, restricted-chemical manufacturing in textiles.
Bluesign certifies textile manufacturing facilities rather than individual products. Certified factories meet strict standards for chemical management, resource efficiency (water, energy, air), and worker safety. Products made in Bluesign-certified facilities can carry the Bluesign APPROVED label.
Textile dyeing and finishing generates 17–20% of global industrial water pollution. Bluesign addresses this at the factory level — where the most impact can be made — rather than just at the brand or retail end.

Environmental Working Group verified free from chemicals of concern in personal care and beauty products.
EWG Verified is awarded by the Environmental Working Group to personal care and cleaning products that fully disclose all ingredients, are free from EWG's restricted chemicals of concern, and are manufactured to good practice standards. The programme draws on EWG's Skin Deep database of over 90,000 product formulations.
Thousands of ingredients used in cosmetics and personal care products are inadequately assessed for safety. EWG Verified gives consumers a clear, independently maintained signal that a product's formulation has been reviewed against up-to-date toxicological evidence.

Certifies farms and forests that meet rigorous environmental, social, and economic sustainability standards.
Rainforest Alliance certification is awarded to farms, forests, and tourism businesses that meet the Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard. The standard addresses biodiversity conservation, workers' rights and wellbeing, livelihoods, and climate resilience — verified by independent, accredited auditors.
Agricultural expansion is the primary driver of tropical deforestation. Rainforest Alliance certification creates a financial incentive for farms to maintain forest cover and biodiversity, while ensuring the workers producing those crops are treated fairly and safely.

Forest Stewardship Council — certifies wood and paper products from responsibly managed forests.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification applies to forests, companies, and products across the wood and paper supply chain. Certified forests are managed to protect biodiversity, worker rights, and local communities. FSC chain-of-custody certification tracks material from the forest through every stage of processing to the final product.
Illegal logging and unsustainable forestry are among the leading causes of deforestation globally. FSC is the most widely recognised and independently audited standard for ensuring that wood, paper, and packaging materials come from forests that will still exist for future generations.

Ensures wool comes from farms that protect animal welfare and manage land sustainably.
The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS), managed by Textile Exchange, sets requirements for sheep welfare and land management on certified farms. It covers the five freedoms of animal welfare, protection of natural ecosystems, and chain-of-custody tracking from farm through to finished product.
Conventional wool production can involve mulesing and poor land stewardship, contributing to soil degradation and animal suffering. RWS gives brands and consumers a verified way to source wool that respects both the animals and the landscapes they depend on.

European standard certifying organic and natural cosmetics with strict ingredient and processing criteria.
COSMOS Organic is the leading European certification standard for organic and natural cosmetics, administered by a consortium including Soil Association, BDIH, COSMEBIO, ECOCERT, and ICEA. It sets minimum thresholds for organic ingredients, prohibits petrochemicals and synthetic fragrances, and restricts processing methods to preserve ingredient integrity.
The terms "natural" and "organic" on cosmetics are largely unregulated in most markets. COSMOS Organic provides a harmonised, independently audited standard that consumers across Europe can trust — and that holds the entire supply chain to traceable, verifiable standards.

Brand donates at least 1% of annual revenue to vetted environmental nonprofits.
1% for the Planet is a global network whose members commit to donating at least 1% of annual gross sales to approved environmental nonprofit organisations. Members are audited annually to verify their giving, and approved nonprofits must meet defined criteria for effectiveness and impact.
Many brands make vague environmental commitments without accountability. 1% for the Planet is one of the few programmes that ties giving directly to revenue — meaning the more a company earns, the more it contributes — and verifies those contributions through independent audits every year.
